Food For Thought.

Never Mind the Botox.

*Age does not protect you from love.
But love, to some extent, protects you from age*

Wake up You Are Not Alone.

Have you ever had one of those days where everything goes wrong be it with work, family, social or life as it is? You feel that no matter what you do, negative elements revolve around you and the only way to cure it on a short term basis is to eat and shop till you drop?

If you have experienced this sticky situation at any point of time here are some tips that may be of use to you;

  1. Always remember that even the elite and most successful individuals occasionally have bad days. BUT, they have learned to suppress the negative emotions and focus on what's more important; which is the POSITIVE ASPECTS in their lives. Life is short enough...why waste any precious time that we have here by being unhappy.
  2. Never fill your head with negative comments. Build up your self confidence by instilling a positive mindset in yourself.
  3. I find it a bit theatrical and over the top if someone has to repeat in front of the mirror "I am confident, I am confident, I am confident" every morning Just to keep myself going. But.. having said that, I do agree that thinking on how great your day will be would be an added advantage to oneself. For eg. if you think Monday blues, you're not gonna get anything but exactly that!
  4. It’s important to keep working at your confidence. Don’t expect everything to change at once. Remember, you are in control of what you think, and what you think influences how you feel. Think confident thoughts and you’ll start to feel confident too.
  5. Don't be dragged down by negative people around you - their opinions will rub off. Make sure you surround yourself by others who keep you positive.
  6. Remember what your end goal is and what it means to you to achieve that - and use this to keep you going.
The Above Methods are purely a simple start to ULTIMATELY create a new YOU with a New Mindset. Positive thinking can only lead to success. Now I'm not asking anyone to aim for the sky, because you need to walk before you can run. Success, confidence, self esteem and these attributes do not come overnight. Never rush it, and take everyday as a challenge and move up step by step.

The other in-depth tips that I would suggest here are:
  1. Always have an outlet for frustrations. Ever got the idea that having a boyfriend / girlfriend / close friend may be useful to vent your anger and release the pent up energy? Now I'm not trying to get your closed ones into having an additional responsibility as a part time counselor, but as a person you need people whom you trust whole-heartedly and are able to support you no matter what. Choose wisely, and you might find this to be a very very important tip in life.
  2. Reward yourself. Don't go "Confessions of a Shopaholic" crazy! (though I fell for it sometimes) I'm asking you to practice restraint and only reward yourself when you have inched closer to your goals. Rewards in life is something that keeps man going. After all, what is there to life if you don't enjoy it too?
  3. RELAX. There is just so many hours of work you can do in a day. Find your favourite pastime and enjoy it whenever you can. Man can never live on work alone. Family, friends, fun are some of the Fs you need in life. Without them, Fortune comes to naught!
You can be a bookworm and read all the tips in the world, but action always speaks louder than words. Apply them and hope it'll bring a smile on your face.

Corporate Dressing Tips.

Just like men, it's very much important for women to look professional in the office. Therefore, it is important for a woman to choose the right suits that enhance their personality and looks. Your professionalism can be affected if you choose too simple or too complex types of clothes.

If suits are your preferential choice, you can use different types of accessories to give a different outlook everyday. Hence you can experiment with various types of necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings. You can also use different matching handbags with your different color suits.

In general professional dresses are basically dark colored like black, brown, dark blue, grey, etc. Bear in mind that matching the variety of shoes, headbands and jackets with different colors can portray a different outlook every time.

Here are some tips on your wardrobe 'portfolio' selections;
  • Business clothing is all about making the right investments. You have to ensure that the choice of clothes you make reflects on flattering your body shape, having a quality outlook, and most importantly make you feel comfortable. After all, looking good and feeling good will lead to high levels of confidence. Business investments are not about what you want and creating a trend. You stick to the general, and source for the best prices with the best quality. No one likes to put on an oversize jacket or skirt, irregardless of the brand or quality. Thus, you must be able to have a professional tailor for immediate alterations.
  • Shoes to me, are considered as a woman's foundation of excellence and success. The right pair which exudes elegance and style and of course comfort goes a long way in making an individual stand out in the corporate world. Always keep your army of shoe selections on a standby, and I mean in good condition and not worn out in any way.
  • A belt loop is an indication of where a belt has to be. Make full use of it girls! This is an area of opportunity to slot in another one of your accessories. In the corporate world, flashy and plastic materials just doesn't cut it. You need a quality leather belt. For those who don't like belts, get pants or skirts without the belt loops. How you evaluate a corporate dressed man without a belt is similar to how we view ourselves. Right?

Impressions you DON'T want to have in the workplace:

  • You're not dressed to club, party or to get a man. Sexy, see-through lace, miniskirts, spaghetti straps, strappy stiletto sandals, etc are a no-no.
  • Going to work is not like going shopping or to the gym or being out with friends. Jeans, shorts, T-shirts, hats, sneakers are the standard of what not to wear.
  • Everyone love a well groomed individual and that's not emphasizing on the facial and smell and looks alone. Never, EVER wear sloppily, come to work with wrinkled clothing, or have too many layers, or look oversized. You wear what you have to (AGAIN) flatter your body shape but not to the extent where you drop their jaws.

Laser Hair Removal Side Effects and How to Avoid Them.

As per a request from a friend;

As we all know laser treatment is one of the most popular methods for hair removal. Many people might consider this treatment as a high cost investment, yet most would still agree that this is one of the best methods because it gives guaranteed results. Before rushing out to a salon for this expensive treatment, you should also be aware of the various side effects associated with laser hair removal.

Below are some common side effects that may occurred after undergoing the treatment, although this may differ from person to person:

  • Redness in the area where the laser treatment is applied. It may last for a week or more. This is most common symptom observed in the bikini area and the armpits.
  • People who have dark skin may develop blisters. They will disappear with time, in about ten days or so. You must avoid touching the blisters as they can get infected and worse, if broken, they will leave scars on your skin.
  • Some people may experience a lightening of the skin whereas others may see their skin becoming darker around the area where the treatment was given. This is a side effect of laser hair removal may last for months.
  • Change in color of beauty spots (moles) in the treated area.

These side effects usually occur in people who have sensitive skin or when the treatment is applied by an inexperienced person. Therefore, proper care should be taken. You should always remember a few things before going for this laser hair removal treatment and to avoid the side effects. They are:

  • Do your due diligence and get all the information, not only about the treatment itself but also about the salon or clinic where you are planning to undergo the laser treatment. It should have a good reputation and have experienced staff on the payroll. You must only go to professionals to avoid any damage being done to your skin by unskilled staff.
  • Discuss everything with the clinic about your skin type and be sure to inform them if you have a sensitive skin.
  • To avoid fever blister formation, especially on the upper lip, make sure that you take an anti viral medication.
  • At least 2 months before taking the treatment, avoid using any photosynthesizing medicines. The use of Accutane or tetracycline may highly aggravate the side effects of laser hair removal.

If you act on the above, you may save yourself a lot of grief so that you are sure to get your money's worth from your laser hair removal treatment.
